MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sylvamo’s 2024 sustainability performance review is now available in a streamlined format that leverages print and a refreshed sustainability hub on Sylvamo.com. These new tools make Sylvamo’s sustainability story more approachable to share news, regional content, certifications, company data and more.
The performance review includes current progress towards Sylvamo’s 2030 goals, an update on complying with sustainability regulatory reporting requirements and how the company is continuing to produce paper in the most responsible and sustainable ways.
“2024 was a year focused on staying ahead of global regulatory reporting challenges and making progress towards our 2030 goals,” said James McDonald, chief sustainability officer. “We are equipped to continue these efforts in 2025 with the support of Sylvamo’s 6,500 talented employees. Together, we are helping the world realize the promise of paper.”
2024 highlights include:
86% of mill energy generated from renewable, carbon-neutral biomass residuals (trees!)
$5 million globally invested with strategic partners supporting environmental and social initiatives
New partnerships with UNICEF and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF)
25% reduction in water use at Tres Lagoas mill versus 2019 baseline
